Sunday night I attended Gwen’s Skating show at the Island Sports (ice) complex on Neville Island, PA.
It was wonderful. Gwen, being only 6, was an ‘elf’ and had a minor role in the overall performance however indeed seeing my little one out there brought a tear to my eye.
I made our way over to the opposite side of the seating area where I could shoot pictures without any glass obstructing my view. The bad thing was we were kinda looking at the whole thing from behind..the good thing was I got a chance to use this new Nikon D90 I picked up. More about the D90 in another post.
Shooting indoors with a 70-200mm 2.8 Zoom gets easier as these new cameras continue to deliver really ‘clean’ images at 1000 to 1600 ISO. But – still, I should have used Flash. I was concerned that flash might effect the performers and since I had no experience shooting a skating event – I played it safe.
Regardless – I got some ‘keepers’ of Gwendolyn and I got a couple of other good shots of other performers.
Austin was quite bored but – he is learning how to support his little sister as indeed – she attends ALL his games. And there are a ton.
Fun night. But – where has my little girl gone! It seems like yesterday she was 2 years old.
